WHO WE NEED
ROM is seeking engaging, responsible, and creative educators to join our ROMKids team as Studio Instructors. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, hands-on learning experiences for children through our camp and club programming, bringing art, culture, and nature to life in dynamic and meaningful ways.
As a Studio Instructor, you will play a key role in facilitating inclusive, inquiry-based programming that reflects ROM’s commitment to experiential learning and accessibility. You will lead groups of participants in structured activities, support positive group dynamics, and ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for all learners.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Deliver engaging, hands-on programming for children that brings ROM’s collections, research, and themes to life through creative, inquiry-based learning experiences
- Plan and facilitate structured lessons and activities that align with program objectives, incorporating inclusive and accessible teaching practices
- Foster a positive, safe, and supportive environment by effectively supervising participants, managing group dynamics, and addressing behavioural needs with sound judgment
- Adapt programming to meet diverse learning styles and needs, ensuring all participants feel included, supported, and engaged
- Integrate experiential learning approaches, including the use of museum objects, specimens, and creative materials, to enhance participant engagement and learning outcomes
- Ensure adherence to program schedules, safety protocols, and supervision standards, maintaining high-quality program delivery at all times
- Collaborate with team members, assistants, and volunteers to support smooth program execution and a consistent participant experience
- Communicate effectively with caregivers and escalate any concerns as appropriate to support participant well-being
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in education, museum studies, art, culture, history, science, or a related field
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with children in educational, camp, or program-based environments
- Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, hands-on programming and facilitate learning in group settings
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills, with the ability to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, caregivers, and team members
- Sound judgment and conflict resolution skills, particularly in dynamic or high-energy environments
- Experience adapting programming to meet diverse learning styles and accessibility needs
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain) is considered an asset
- Formal teaching qualifications (e.g., OCT, ECE, B.Ed.) and/or experience in creative disciplines such as visual arts, storytelling, environmental education, or media arts are considered assets

- EXPECTED COMPENSATION: $35.15 – $40.19
- SCHEDULE: Up to 24 hours weekly
- PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 420 hours or six (6) months
