WHO WE NEED

We are seeking Summer Club Lead Assistants to provide leadership and support across ROM’s summer camp programs.

Reporting to the ROMKids team, Lead Assistants play a key role in supporting daily camp operations, mentoring staff and volunteers, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for campers. This role combines hands-on program delivery with team leadership, supporting both campers and staff throughout the day.

Successful candidates are enthusiastic, responsible, and confident working with children in dynamic, fast-paced environments.


HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to Summer Club staff and volunteers, supporting a positive and collaborative team environment
  • Lead daily camp routines, including morning check-in, attendance tracking, transitions, lunch and break coverage, and end-of-day procedures
  • Support and mentor team members by providing feedback, coaching, and guidance to ensure high-quality program delivery
  • Facilitate engaging, hands-on activities for children, supporting inquiry-based learning and positive camper experiences
  • Assist with program logistics, including preparation, clean-up, and supporting field trips and movement throughout the museum
  • Supervise extended care programming and ensure smooth transitions for campers and caregivers
  • Communicate effectively with caregivers, providing updates on camper experiences and addressing questions as needed
  • Model positive behaviour, professionalism, and strong customer service in all interactions with campers, families, and staff
  • Support a safe and inclusive environment by following all health, safety, and child protection protocols

WHAT YOU BRING
  • At least two (2) years of experience working with children in educational or camp environments.
  • Proven leadership abilities and a desire to support the growth and success of others.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
  • A positive, adaptable, and team-oriented attitude.
  • Interest in education, museums, or child and youth programming.
  • Strong assets include:
    • First Aid/CPR certification.
    • Coaching or lifeguard certifications.
    • Secondary education or coursework in a museum-related field such as Art, Archaeology, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, History, or Education.

SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • HOURLY RATE: $18.60
  • SCHEDULE: 24-35 hours weekly
