WHO WE NEED
Royal Ontario Museum is seeking dynamic and enthusiastic individuals to join our team. These roles focus on providing exceptional, friendly, and insightful support within the ROM Galleries and Hands-on Spaces, including Hands-on Biodiversity, Schad Gallery of Biodiversity, and WonderWorks.
We are looking for individuals who demonstrate:
- A passion for culture, arts, natural history, and science.
- Proven experience engaging diverse audiences, including children, youth, and families.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to foster inclusivity and positive experiences for visitors of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting, assisting, and engaging visitors in meaningful learning experiences.
- Support and mentor volunteers to deliver exceptional visitor experiences, including training and coaching on best practices.
- Create and maintain a safe and inclusive environment by enforcing gallery policies and responding effectively to visitor concerns.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of learning materials, specimens, and technological equipment, ensuring that resources are ready and in good condition.
- Assist the Gallery Coordinator(s) with operational duties, including opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and administrative tasks as required.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the gallery’s mission and objectives.
- Assist in daily care, feeding and handling of live animals.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Successful completion of less than two (2) years of post-secondary education in a related field (such as education, museum studies, natural history, or world cultures), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with children, youth, families, and/or volunteers in educational or community programming, with the ability to effectively engage and facilitate learning.
- Proficiency in French is highly valued and considered a strong asset.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to connect with visitors and colleagues in a positive, respectful, and inclusive manner.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively, and adapt to changing needs in a fast-paced museum environment.
- Flexibility to work weekends, select evenings, and during peak periods (including ROM for the Holidays, March Break and Summer).
- A minimum commitment of three (3) days per week is required to meet operational needs.
- Enthusiastic about working with live animals, including frogs and insects.

SALARY & TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- START DATE: July 2025
- OPEN DATE: June 11, 2025

- HOURLY RATE: $26.60 – $30.41
- SCHEDULE: Up to 24 hours weekly
- PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 420 hours

- First interview: A 30-minute virtual interview with the Hiring Manager and a member of the HR team. This in-depth interview will focus on your skills and how they align with the team's and ROM's needs.
