The ROM is seeking responsible individuals to join our team for the ROM Summer Club program. This is an opportunity to be part of a vibrant community where you can make a meaningful impact by inspiring and educating the next generation of curious minds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide guidance and leadership to ROM's Summer Club staff and volunteers, fostering a supportive and cohesive team environment.
  • Act as a leader to a team of assistants, overseeing daily duties such as morning greetings and attendance, supervising break and lunch routines, and ensuring the smooth operation of the end-of-day clean-up routines and extended care program.
  • Offer constructive feedback and mentorship to team members, ensuring their performance meets the standards expected of ROM camp staff.
  • Fulfill regular camp assistant duties, including assisting with attendance, material preparation, and guiding campers through the Museum and on field trips, actively contributing to the camp's success.
  • Facilitate engaging and educational activities for children, ensuring a fun and enriching experience for all participants.
  • Serve as a positive role model to campers and staff, embodying behaviours that reflect the values of respect, kindness, and enthusiasm.
  • Maintain a friendly and courteous demeanour towards caregivers and children at all times, providing exceptional customer service and support throughout the camp experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Lead Assistants should have at least two years of experience working with children in educational or camp environments. They should demonstrate their ability to collaborate effectively within a team while providing exceptional care and guidance.
  • Secondary education in a Museum-related field (such as Art, Archaeology, Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, or History) is highly valued. It enriches the camp's educational content and provides valuable context for activities.
  • Possession of coaching/lifeguard certification, along with First Aid/CPR certification, is strongly preferred. These certifications contribute to the safety and well-being of campers and staff during activities and outings.
  • Proven leadership abilities are essential for Lead Assistants, as they will be responsible for guiding and supporting a team of assistants, ensuring smooth operations and fostering a positive and inclusive camp environment.

Additionally, all applicants are required to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Screening, a necessary procedure for those intending to work with children or vulnerable individuals. This screening is crucial to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all camp participants.
