POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive financial reporting and analysis to support ROM's business operations. You'll ensure accurate financial reporting in line with Canadian public sector accounting standards and act as the main liaison for various business units and corporate services departments. Your role will be instrumental in enhancing financial system processes while maintaining strong internal controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and scrutinize account activities, ensuring meticulous accuracy and completeness. Oversee the preparation of monthly corporate financial statements and quarterly reports and assist in tax-related research. Liaise effectively with external auditors for year-end audits and assist in the preparation of financial reports for various stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of variances against budgets and historical trends. Collaborate cross-functionally to consolidate annual budgets and strategic plans, providing insightful performance metrics and forecasts. You'll be instrumental in guiding business partners and senior management through profitability analysis, costing models, and reporting requirements.
  • Play an active role in designing and implementing organizational financial systems. Develop and maintain finance policies, ensuring procedures align with ROM's strategic goals. Take a lead role in enhancing our ERP system (SAGE), focusing on efficiency, compliance, and effective use of financial data.
  • Manage the preparation of not-for-profit and charitable returns, and reports for Statistics Canada and other governmental bodies. Your expertise will ensure compliance and accuracy with ROM's financial obligations.
  • Provide expert guidance on accounting and finance processes to ROM staff, strengthening internal controls and operational efficiency. Your advice will be critical in ensuring financial integrity across the museum.
  • Take on special projects and tasks as assigned, showcasing your adaptability and commitment to ROM's financial well-being.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field, complemented by a CPA professional designation.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on financial analysis, forecasting, and planning.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience, demonstrating leadership and team management skills.
  • Solid financial acumen, analytical agility, and technical proficiency.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a focus on accuracy in finance-related functions.
  • Proficiency in GAAP, coupled with strong analytical and technical finance skills.
  • Self-motivated, thriving in a dynamic environment, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in MS Office 365 and SAGE 300 ERP.

SALARY/HOURLY RATE: $80, 403.00 – $94, 592.00
SCHEDULE:  35 hours weekly
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:   six (6) months
